For socially beneficial sites, the populations admitted and managed tend to have weaker immune systems and therefore require a systematically regulated water supply in strict compliance with relevant standards. As people's living standards continue to improve, many water recreation projects and swimming pools are gradually increasing. Water disinfection using UV is characterized by: short contact time and strong sterilization ability; simple equipment, easy operation and management, and automation; no side effects on water and no danger of poisoning during treatment. It can be used in small-scale industrial water where chlorine ions are not allowed to be added to the treated water.
Unlike residual chlorine, UV disinfection does not maintain its effect, so the disinfected water should be managed better to prevent recontamination. When using UV mercury lamps for disinfection, the lamps must be lit for a stable period of 5 to 15 minutes. Electrical measures should be taken to ensure that the rated power and voltage of the lamp are stable, otherwise the sterilization effect will be affected when the ignition power is insufficient. UV disinfection equipment and management are relatively simple, but the current short lamp life, more expensive, so the promotion of the application is limited.
